CCI Large Pistol Primers 300 are continuously tested and improved. As a result today’s CCI primers are more sensitive, easier to seat and more compatible with progressive and automated loading equipment than ever before. They utilize modern non-corrosive and non-mercuric initiator mixes for the cleanest burn possible. Available in 1000 or 5000 count boxes.

CCI Primers make use of a clean-burning initiator chemical, which allows them to be used for longer periods of time between primer pocket cleanings. They have been engineered to seat more comfortably and to flow more smoothly through automated equipment than previous models. These primers provide a more sensitive and effective contact area for weapons that fire off-center, allowing them to be more accurate.

Because of the frequent testing and assessment techniques used by CCI, priCCI 300 Primers  have become highly developed. As a result, the CCI #300 Large Pistol Primers are simpler to ignite and seat than other priming options, making them an excellent choice for reloading. These primers are non-corrosive and non-mercuric, which makes them ideal for outdoor use. CCI’s #300 Large Pistol Primers are for most handgun cartridges requiring a large pistol primer.

A cartridge is little more than scrap metal if it does not include a primer. CCI was formed by Richard Speer in order to offer reloaders with a reliable source of component primers. Primers were CCI’s initial product, released years before the release of Mini-MagTM, Stinger®, and our other well-known ammunition lines.

Because we test and enhance our primers on a regular basis, they are highly developed items. Compared to previous generations of CCI primers, today’s primers are more sensitive, simpler to seat, and more compatible with progressive and automated loading equipment. CCI primers have always included non-corrosive and non-mercuric initiator mixtures that are contemporary in nature.

The numbers are CCI model designation for Small Pistol, Large Pistol, Small Rifle and Large Rifle primers. There are also regular or Magnum primers (Magnum have the “50”). Different sizes for different calibers. If you don’t have a reloading manual go to your Public Library and check some out. You should find your answers there. Good luck!

No, not for 9mm. For the majority of reloaders, there are four different primer types that you may use. Small pistol, large pistol, small rifle, and large rifle. For pistol cartridges, .40 and under use small pistol. Over .40 use large pistol. (Like everything in life, there are exceptions, the most obvious being that if/when you start loading .45, you’ll see that some minority percentage of .45 use small primers. If you aren’t yet loading .45, ignore this, because you’ll understand by the time you get to it.) For rifle cartridges, some use small rifle primers and others use large rifle primers. I only load .223 and .308. .223 falls into the small rifle primer category, and .308 falls into large rifle primer. Ignore the numbers on the primer boxes (although you will come to memorize them) and just look for SMALL PISTOL PRIMERS for 9mm and .380. Don’t inadvertently order MAGNUM small pistol primers. You don’t want those. Of course, by the time primers are available again, you will have had 7 years to read all sorts of info about reloading.

I have had way too many primer strikes with no bang. I rechambered and went bang onthe 2nd strike. I have lost confidence with respect to CCI LG pistol primers

    CCI’s primers are a just …
CCI’s primers are a just as close to perfect as a handloader could ever expect. With propellants that call for a standard large pistol primer (#2400, Blue Dot, Power Pistol, etc.), rather than a magnum primer, I go to the CCI300s more than any other primer. I’ve been rewarded with extremely low extreme spreads on chronographed velocities with the CCI300 primer for loads in my Ruger Blackhawk .45 Colt. If I take the time and care to assemble loads by individually weighing each charge to the exact 1/10th of a grain of powder, extreme spreads have even dipped as low as the single digits. Also, I should note that while a hotter primer is generally recommended for propellants like H110 and WW296, the CCI300 has proven entirely reliable with Hodgdon’s Lil’Gun in my .45 Colt+P handloads. Pairing the CCI300 with Hodgdon’s Lil’Gun, extreme spreads average between 20- and 30-f.p.s. with chronographed muzzle velocities in the 1200-f.p.s. from a 4&5/8″ bbl. with appropriate 300-gr. Bullets. Also, every indication seems to show less pressure (case expansion & primer “flattening”) with the CCI300 compared to the CCI350 with Lil’Gun, with lower extreme spreads and muzzle velocities essentially equal with the CCI300s. In addition, I have had excellent results in a 4″ Smith and Wesson M29 when lighting charges of Alliant’s #2400 and Blue Dot with bullet weights of 200-, 210-, 240- and 250-grs. MidwayUSA doesn’t allow recommending charge weights of powders, so I haven’t. Though, the latest Speer manual is an excellent, reliable source for pressure tested data in many cartridges. Alliant offers data with associated pressures on their website for many load combinations in many calibers. The Hodgdon Annual Manual is another fine source, as is their website.

  9. Tom

I haven’t used this product yet, at this writing, however, I have no doubt it will preform as intended!!

  10. k

My first reloading attempt was a success. Packaged well, easy to use, loaded well

  11. bjojn

pros, quality products as always, great service from Midway, goes bang every time. cons, none. I used these to load .45 acp with 118 gr. arx over Titegroup powder all from Midway.

  12. qw

Working well with my 45acp ammo

  13. hog

These primers work the best for me in my Lee press. They seem to seat more smoothly than other brands I’ve used. Never had a primer mis-fire, even after many thousands of reloads.

  14. hulk

I’ve used these primers for years and they absolutely always perform as advertised

  15. Daje

CCI primers live up to the quality discussed by other reviewers.
